Chad Nelson promoted to Italy Police Chief

  ITALY – Italy named Lt. Chad Nelson as its new police chief. The police department has been under the leadership of Nelson for the past eight months while he was serving as Interim Chief of Police. The city has now officially appointed Nelson as the new Chief of Police in the city.

Ellis County jury convicts former Cedar Hill Police Officer

  WAXAHACHIE – Former Cedar Hill Police Officer Donald Mercer was convicted and sentenced to jail time last week in Ellis County. Mercer,  from Dallas County, was convicted by a jury of the Class A Misdemeanor offense of Official Oppression and sentenced to 300 days in the Ellis County Jail.

Ellis County GOP comments on Commissioner Zajic arrest

  ENNIS – The Ellis County GOP has commented on newly elected Ellis County Precinct 2 Commissioner Matthew Zajic’s recent arrest in Ennis. Zajic was arrested in connection with a Theft of Property (>$100–<$750), which is a Class B Misdemeanor.
