ITALY – Italy named Lt. Chad Nelson as its new police chief.

The police department has been under the leadership of Nelson for the past eight months while he was serving as Interim Chief of Police.

The city has now officially appointed Nelson as the new Chief of Police in the city.

During his time as interim Police Chief, Nelson oversaw various changes to enhance operations, including the department’s Facebook page, which is key in keeping the public informed and garnering feedback.

Italy’s mayor Clinton Sulak-Tovar said, “Leadership, dedication, and experience have earned Lt. Chad Nelson this well-deserved opportunity.

“Over the past several months, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the community, strengthening department operations, and fostering better communication with residents.”

With 28 years of law enforcement experience and extensive knowledge in criminal justice operations, Nelson brings significant expertise, having served the Italy Police Department for the past two and a half years.

“With nearly three decades in law enforcement and a proven record of service, he is well prepared to lead the Italy Police Department into the future.

“Congratulations on your appointment as Chief of Police – we wish you continued success in this new chapter,” Sulak-Tovar concluded.
