Missed curve sends man to hospital

At approximately 6:38 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers were called to a one vehicle crash on FM 813 approximately 500 feet east of Falcon Ridge Road in Ellis County.

Ovilla flag ceremony honors first responders

OVILLA – Fourteen-year-old Tyler Homuth addressed the Ovilla City Council recently in order to complete his requirements for his Eagle Scout project.   Homuth is in Troop 520 in Cedar Hill. “I did this project because I have a uncle that I’m close to that is a firefighter,” Homuth said.

Free youth heart screenings offered

Ferris traffic stop leads to heroin discovery

FERRIS – The Ferris Police Department got more than they bargained for last Thursday when a routine traffic stop turned into a drug-related arrest. According to Ferris Police Chief John DeLeon, on Thursday, Oct. 15 at approximately 4:45 p.m.
