At approximately 6:38 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers were called to a one vehicle crash on FM 813 approximately 500 feet east of Falcon Ridge Road in Ellis County.

OVILLA – Fourteen-year-old Tyler Homuth addressed the Ovilla City Council recently in order to complete his requirements for his Eagle Scout project.   Homuth is in Troop 520 in Cedar Hill. “I did this project because I have a uncle that I’m close to that is a firefighter,” Homuth said.

FERRIS – The Ferris Police Department got more than they bargained for last Thursday when a routine traffic stop turned into a drug-related arrest. According to Ferris Police Chief John DeLeon, on Thursday, Oct. 15 at approximately 4:45 p.m.

OVILLA – The City of Ovilla voted unanimously at last week’s city council meeting to name The Ellis County Press as the official paper of record for that city.   Ovilla Mayor Richard Dormier said, “We are pleased to have a locally owned newspaper provide these services for our city.

WILMER – Cars line up every Tuesday at noon to receive free food from what is called “Emmanuel’s Market.” Emmanuel would be Emmanuel Wealthy – the mayor of Wilmer and a big believer in giving back. “I give out everything from watermelon to collard greens to meat, cheese, butter and eggs.
