When most people think of the Ferris Public Library, they probably imagine rows of books and a quiet place to read. While we do love our books, there’s a lot more happening inside these walls than most people realize. Here are five awesome things you can find at the library that may just surprise you.
1. Online Classes with TexShare Databases – Through services like Gale Udemy and LearningExpress Library, you can take online classes, such as a Communication Skills Masterclass or an Academic Skills and Test Preparation course. The best part… it won’t cost you a thing.
2. Puzzle Room – We have a room designated just for puzzles! Come find one piece or find 100.
3. Judge Grace McKnight Genealogy Room – Ms. McKnight donated her much sought after genealogical collection to the Ferris Public Library containing over 1,600 reference books. Stop by and explore the fascinating discoveries waiting for you.
4. Free e-Books and Audiobooks – Did you know you can download bestsellers straight to your phone or tablet with the Libby app? Completely free with your library card!
5. Summer Reading Program – We have planned a summer full of exciting, educational, and entertaining programs! We offer special programs for teens, along with crafternoons, movie matinees, and live performances.
STORY TIME is hosted every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children are treated to stories, fun activities, and a snack. Before leaving, your child may choose a prize from the treasure chest to take home.
AFTER-SCHOOL GAME TIME is held each Thursday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Children can play the PS5 on the large screen in the meeting room and board games are also available.
