Each year, libraries across the country recognize Banned Books Week as an opportunity to celebrate intellectual freedom and the importance of having the freedom to choose what we read.
From Oct. 4 – 10, Ferris Public Library will feature a special display of books that have been challenged or banned in different places and at different times.
The collection includes a variety of titles, from classic literature to children’s and elementary fiction. These books remind us of the many ways stories can inspire us, introduce us to new ideas, and help us see the world from different perspectives.
We invite you to stop by, explore the display, and learn more about the history behind some of these challenged books. While you’re here, be sure to take part in our fun Banned Books Week scavenger hunt for a chance to win a prize!
On Thursday, Oct. 8, from 4 – 5 p.m., children ages 8 and up are invited to join us for KIDS TRIVIA!
Questions will cover a variety of fun topics, including pop culture, geography, and basic library knowledge. Come test your skills, enjoy some friendly competition, and grab a snack while you’re here. Snacks will be provided!
