Red Oak man sentenced to 99 years for 7th DWI

WAXAHACHIE – Virgil Bryant III, 47, of Red Oak, was convicted by a jury of driving while intoxicated third or more and was sentenced to 99 years in prison, according Ann Montgomery, Ellis County and District Attorney.
U.S. Army veterans, Jerry Cossette (l) and Don Merchant (m) presented U.S. Air Force veteran Michael Seiber with the Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin. Presented to fellow veterans who served from Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975. The Bristol Volunteers present any living United States veteran they visit with this pin on behalf of a grateful nation.

Son sentenced to 70 years for beating mother to death

WAXAHACHIE – Chad Gillen, 37, of Waxahachie, Texas, was convicted of murder by a jury and sentenced to 70 years in prison, according to Ann Montgomery, Ellis County and District Attorney.In 2010, Karen Gillen suffered a stroke, which left her disabled.

MIDLOTHIAN – Police reported two suspects were arrested last week from an aggravated robbery/first degree felony that occurred on May 14 at 8:49 p.m. at Texas Best Smokehouse & BBQ, on Plainview Road in Midlothian.

Aguilar Amber Alert canceled

WILMER – The Amber Alert for 10-year-old Ian Aguilar, which was issued several weeks ago out of Wilmer has been canceled.The alert was canceled on Nov. 25 at 3:30 p.m.Wilmer Police said Aguilar was safely returned to the United States and his family.
