Hazel Ingram Elementary School receives $4,000 Grant

FERRIS – Hazel Ingram Elementary School has received a $4,000 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education Grant for their Outdoor Learning Center. Lowe’s grant application was based on the goal of improving hands-on learning with real world application in Science at Hazel Ingram Elementary School.

FERRIS – Bill Kinder, host of the popular nationally syndicated Big Billy Kinder Outdoors radio program, interviewed Beatrice Wallace at her estate home in Ferris recently. The programs airs at 5 a.m. on WBAP, 820 AM.

3 robbery suspects in custody

MIDLOTHIAN – Three robbery suspects were in custody last Wednesday after leading Midlothian and Cedar Hill police on a chase after holding up a truck stop in Ellis County. The robbery occurred around 3 a.m. at the Love’s Travel Stop in the 1500 block of West Main Street in Midlothian.

Body found confirmed to be missing Ennis mother

ENNIS – Ennis police on Tuesday confirmed the body that a volunteer search team found Monday morning is that of missing Ennis mom Emily Wade. Volunteers found the woman’s body at Little Water Crossing in Ennis in a creek bed which had flooded the night of Jan. 5 when Wade went missing.

Garrett murder suspect arrested

GARRETT – Timothy Brown, 58, of Ennis was arrested Saturday as a suspect in the shooting death of Donald Claxton of Ennis. Ellis County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shooting behind the Spec’s Liquor Store in Garrett Friday at 10:43 p.m.

RO School Board approves Flight Plan 2023

RED OAK – Red Oak’s Independent School District is ready to take flight. Taking flight all the way into 2023, the school recently approved what is monikered Flight Plan 2023. Flight Plan 2023 is a comprehensive strategic plan reflecting feedback and district priorities.

Ferris, Red Oak council sign-ups begin

ELLIS COUNTY – Among other cities in Ellis County and southern Dallas County, sign-ups to run for a city council seat begin Jan. 16 through Feb. 15. Packets to be filled out and returned can be picked up at City Halls during business hours.

Ferris storage units burglarized again

FERRIS – The Storage Place at 980 W. FM 664 in Ferris was burglarized over the weekend and police said as much as $5,000 or more worth of items were stolen.
