WAXAHACHIE – Retired U.S. Navy fighter pilot and current airline pilot, Jake Ellzey and 4th-generation Ellis County resident Ryan Pitts announced they will run for Texas State House in District 10. Incumbent Rep. John Wray announced his retirement last week and stated he would not seek re-election.

WAXAHACHIE – On Wednesday, July 10, in the 40th Judicial District Court of Ellis County, Natalie Annell Weaver, 21, of Springfield, Missouri., pleaded guilty to a 2nd degree felony charge of manslaughter and to a state jail felony charge of abuse of a corpse.

Beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, FPD volunteers braved the heat and hot pavement and collected donations from passing motorists on downtown Ferris street corners and intersections. This year’s goal was $2,500, but the Ferris community stepped up – and gave a whole lot more.
