ROISD increases staff/teacher compensation by $3-million

RED OAK – As the Red Oak ISD continues to make changes, last week selecting Dr. Ann Dixon as the interim superintendent, the district also just announced the new 2019-20 budget, tax rate and salaries.
Last year the Mayor’s “Back 2 School Extravaganza” event helped more than 400 kids, with everything from school supplies to hygiene products, school uniforms, undergarments, haircuts and even backpacks.

WILMER – Ready, set, it’s the second annual Mayor’s “Back 2 School Extravaganza” Saturday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon. Wilmer Mayor Emmanuel Wealthy-Williams said, “The purpose of the event is to send the kids back to school with a big bash, plus give them all they need to succeed.

WILMER – While some residents might be worried about the possibility of a tannery moving to their city, Wilmer City Administrator Dr. John Hubbard said it is a good thing. Recently, the Wilmer city council approved an incentive package to offer a company called Leathertec Worldwide Inc.

Google plans $600-million facility in Red Oak

RED OAK – The City of Red Oak is going to be googling soon alongside neighboring Midlothian. That is if everything works out the way council and staff are anticipating. Google agreed last week to build a $600 million data center on 160 acres north of Wells Fargo Bank in Red Oak.

DALLAS – Following a difficult Fourth of July week for blood donations and ongoing challenges finding new blood donors, the American Red Cross now faces a blood shortage and has issued an emergency call for eligible individuals of all blood types to give now and prevent delays in medical care.
