Women identified as mayor’s daughter

ENNIS – According to the obituary from the J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis, the woman found dead in a home on Dec. 18 was 36-year-old  Jenna Nicole Rejcek, the daughter of Ennis Mayor Angie Juenemann.

WILMER LIBRARY HOLDS YEAR-END PAJAMA PARTY

WILMER – The City of Wilmer’s E.M. Gilliam Memorial Library hosted a Christmas Party the weekend before Christmas to celebrate the holiday season with local children enjoying the world of books.
The southern versus northern route option for the proposed FM 1387 extension has been in the works since the late 1990s/early 2000s. Midlothian, Waxahachie, and Ellis County have had the alignment of this proposed extension on their respective thoroughfare plans since the early 2000s. The goal of the extension is to eventually extend it to IH-35 to provide for better mobility to address the growth the region anticipated.

Commissioners vote south alignment option for 1387 thoroughfare plan

ELLIS COUNTY – To the chagrin of many in the crowd last Tuesday, the Ellis County Commissioners voted 3-1 to remain with TxDOT’s southern alignment thoroughfare plan.The vote was 3-1, with Precinct 4 Commissioner Kyle Butler the lone voice voting for the north option.

WAXAHACHIE - State Representative Brian Harrison unveiled the 2022 House District 10 Christmas ornament for the Christmas tree on the Floor of the Texas State House of Representatives. The ornament was decorated by local Ellis County artist Tamara Wascovish.

Women found deceased in Ennis

ENNIS – A 36-year-old woman, Jenna Nicole Rejcek, 36 was found dead in a home in Ennis earlier this week according to the Ennis Police Department.The Ennis PD did not reveal the woman’s cause of death, but did say they responded to a “call of an unresponsive female on Linda Drive.

Ennis Police searching for 2 men in last week’s shooting

ENNIS – The Ennis Police Department is seeking the public’s help involving a shooting that took place last week in the vicinity of Phillips Drive.The shooting occurred last Sunday, Dec. 4 at around 10 p.m. when an Ennis resident who was in his vehicle was shot at multiple times.

‘And now, I am going fishing’

FERRIS – That’s what Wanda Curry, retiring Ferris Postmaster, said when asked what she was going to do upon retiring after 39-years with the U.S. Postal Service.Her last day will be Dec. 30.Curry began her career in October, 1983 as a mail carrier in Pleasant Grove.
