Waxahachie man arrested in Frisco for 2002 killing

  FRISCO – Frisco police  arrested a second suspect in the 2002 killing of Plano businessman and military veteran Frank Weiss, whose body was found wrapped in plastic bags and weighted down in Lake Lewisville 24 years ago. Keith Hart, 57, of Waxahachie, was taken into custody around 7:45 a.m.

Ferris man arrested for voyeurism

  FERRIS – Cristian Ivan Ceballos Vega was taken into custody last week by Ferris Police. Vega was charge with Voyeurism, listed in the warrant as a state jail felony, and Criminal Trespass, listed in the warrant as a Class A misdemeanor.

Wilmer city officials sworn in

  WILMER – The Wilmer City Council swore in Mayor Sheila Petta for a new term as well as Sergio Campos. New Councilmember Moses Garcia was also sworn in this past Thursday night by his son.

Waxahachie Council votes to keep Mayor Wallace, Travis Smith elected Mayor Pro Tem

  WAXAHACHIE – At a special City Council meeting last week in Waxahachie, the council voted to appoint current mayor Billie Wallace to continue in that seat for another year. Place 5 city councilmember Travis Smith was appointed as Mayor Pro Tem at the meeting.

Bald Eagle stamps take flight

  TEXAS — The U.S. Postal Service released a set of stamps honoring our national bird, the bald eagle, at the National Eagle Center. The new release features five realistic illustrations of bald eagles at different stages of life by noted ornithologist David Allen Sibley.

  OVILLA – At the recent Ovilla City Council meeting, Mayor Richard Dormier presented Certificates of Election to incumbent City Council Members Place 1 Kimberly Case; Place 3 David Griffin, and Place 5 Sharon Jungman who were officially sworn in to office for another term.

Red Oak rezones land for data center campus despite protests

  RED OAK – More than 100 people attended last Monday night’s nearly 5-hour meeting  to oppose the rezoning of an 830-acre property from agricultural district to allow a data center campus to be built.
