Waxahachie Council votes to keep Mayor Wallace, Travis Smith elected Mayor Pro Tem

WAXAHACHIE – At a special City Council meeting last week in Waxahachie, the council voted to appoint current mayor Billie Wallace to continue in that seat for another year.

Place 5 city councilmember Travis Smith was appointed as Mayor Pro Tem at the meeting.

This will be the last year the Waxahachie City Council appoints the mayor for the city since Proposition A passed on May 5.

That successful proposition means beginning with the 2027 election cycle, the mayor will be elected at large directly by the city’s voters in regular elections, ensuring the position reflects the electorate’s will.
