RED OAK – The inaugural Sweat Out Cancer 5K Fun Run and Walk was held at The Oaks Church on Saturday, July 26 benefiting Hezekiah Helms to raise awareness for T-Cell Lymphoma.
Over 150 runners and walkers participated in the first-ever event.
Chick-fil-A of Red Oak, and the City of Red Oak were the main sponsors for the event.
Other sponsors included The Oaks Church, Prosperity Bank, The Joint Chiropractic, The Guardian Knights Cancer Foundation and On Time Designs.
After a quick stretch routine led by the Chick-fil-A Cow and Bady Cow, the 5K started and ended in The Oaks Church parking lot. The route headed west out of the parking lot through The Oaks community.
Red Oak Police and many volunteers helped guide traffic away from the participants and provided water at multiple spots along the course on a hot and humid morning.
Chick-fil-A provided all participants with a chicken sandwich meal after the event.
Participants can view photos and videos on the Moving Pictures and City of Red Oak Facebook pages.
It was a great inaugural event going to a great cause, and the participants all had a good time.
