RED OAK – Interim Fire Chief David Jones has been named the next permanent fire chief of the Red Oak Fire Department, city officials announced.
Jones, who has served as the city’s interim chief since June, will officially assume the permanent role on Oct. 19. His appointment follows a competitive municipal recruitment process that drew more than 50 applicants, according to city statements.
With more than 36 years of experience in public safety, emergency management, and fire service, Jones previously served as the fire chief and emergency management coordinator for the City of Keller.
Since retiring from that position, he has worked in various interim leadership and public safety training positions across Texas.
Red Oak officials credited the department’s transition command staff – specifically Battalion Chiefs Jakubik, Nichols, and Petricca – with maintaining operational continuity during the four-month search for a permanent chief.
Municipal authorities have not released details regarding the final selection metrics or the specific identities of the other applicants involved in the recruitment pool.
