Midlothian Police involved in pursuit, shooting

MIDLOTHIAN – Midlothian Police were involved in a multi-city pursuit and shooting early Friday morning at around 2:43 a.m. when the Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch was notified of a pursuit involving officers from the City of Dalworthington Gardens and the Town of Pantego.

Sheriff issues ‘Scam Alert’

ELLIS COUNTY – Last week, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by a local law enforcement agency that a group of scammers were targeting citizens in Ellis County.There are several variations of the scam that “made their rounds through Ellis County,” according to an ECSO press release.

ESD #2 funded new ambulance in Ovilla

OVILLA – The City of Ovilla will soon be seeing a variety of benefits from the recent passing of an Ellis County ESD #2 sales tax proposition.One of those benefits will be the funding of a much-needed ambulance service in that city.

AUSTIN – Texans who sustained losses from the storms and flooding April 26-June 5 have one month remaining to apply for federal assistance. The deadline is Aug. 15.To date, FEMA has provided $176.7 million to 76,562 Texas households. The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved $52.

Ennis PD officer recognized for saving life

ENNIS – Ennis Police Department Detective Maria Lozano was recently recognized by U.S. Representative Jake Ellzey, (R-06) for her quick thinking when she saved the life of an unconscious man in Malakoff.
