Ennis PD officer recognized for saving life

ENNIS – Ennis Police Department Detective Maria Lozano was recently recognized by U.S. Representative Jake Ellzey, (R-06) for her quick thinking when she saved the life of an unconscious man in Malakoff.

Lozano’s heroic actions in saving the man’s life happened when she was off duty at a convenience store, where she found the unnamed man unconscious.

Ennis PD Facebook page reported, “She administered CPR and no ticed that the man’s pupils appeared to be pinpoint in size, indicating a possible drug overdose.”

Lozano retrieved Narcan from her police patrol bag and administered three doses, which revived the man.

Paramedics arrived soon after and the man was taken to a local hospital.

Ellzey recognized her life-saving actions and awarded her the life-saving award.
