MIDLOTHIAN – Dayshun Reese-Williams had 171 yards rushing and two touchdowns to lead Cedar Hill over Midlothian 40-7 at Midlothian ISD Stadium.Reese-Williams scored on a 48-yard run to put Cedar Hill (1-0) on the scoreboard. Tamarion Crochett had 143 yards passing and two touchdowns.

WAXAHACHIE – Ellis County Commissioners voted unanimously to set the mandatory payment rate for the new fiscal year beginning Oct. 1.Ellis County Judge Todd Little said all rates were implemented into the proposed budget and include all elected officials.

MAYPEARL – Maypearl ISD is enforcing its phone free zones this school year. In the past, the district has been more relaxed in its enforcement.The item had been discussed with the Maypearl Board of Trustees on several occasions over the past year.

Japanese tank added to Pacific War Museum

Fredericksburg – The National Museum of the Pacific War (NMPW) welcomed a new tank to its collection on Friday, August 23. The tank is a Japanese Type 95 Ha-Go Light Tank replica which was transferred from the NPO Defense Technology Museum in Gotemba, Japan.

WAXAHACHIE – Beatriz Welch, a docent at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, will be doing an oil painting demonstration for The Ellis County Art Association at their monthly meeting, Sept. 9 at First Baptist Church of Waxahachie (450 US287 BYP). The public is encouraged to attend.
