FERRIS – With 2020 being one of the most unprecedented years on record, the upcoming election will likely be a series of twists and turns too. One item Ferris residents will want to take note of on the ballot is a bond election being called by Ferris ISD.

Waxahachie wins season opener 34-7 over Copperas Cove

COPPERAS COVE – Shawn Cherry motored for 199 yards on 20 carries to lead Waxahachie past Copperas Cove 34-7 Friday night in the season opener for both teams at Bulldawg Stadium. In a first half defensive struggle, Waxahachie kicker Clyde Melick started the scoring with a pair of field goals.

Midlothian outruns Fort Worth Brewer 35-17

MIDLOTHIAN – Dillon Lampkins led the way for Midlothian with 82 rushing yards and two touchdowns on eight carries in a 35-17 win over Fort Worth Brewer on Friday. Nine players logged rushing attempts for Midlothian (1-0), which finished with 252 total rushing yards on 39 carries as a team.
