Tavia Williams of Ennis was named to the spring 2025 Dean’s List at the College of Saint Mary.Dario Rodriguez of Ennis, Caden Naizer of Midlothian, and Fernando Jimenez of Waxahachie were named to the spring 2025 Dean’s List at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Vickie Ratliff to give painting demonstration July 7

WAXAHACHIE – Vickie Ratliff, an award-winning contemporary realist painter from Midlothian, will give a demonstration at the monthly meeting of The Ellis County Art Association, July 7 at First Baptist Church of Waxahachie (450 US287 BYP). The public is encouraged to attend.

Jett Maxwell of Ennis was named to Southern Arkansas University’s Spring 2025 Dean's List.Isabel Vela of Midlothian was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at Texas Tech University.

MIDLOTHIAN – The Midlothian Police Department’s K9 officer Bear will be a little safer as he navigates his work life on the street, thanks to a recent donation.The charitable non-profit organization called Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

Ellis County Commissioners adding new precincts in 2026

WAXAHACHIE – Ellis County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve changes to the voting precinct boundaries as of Jan. 1, 2026.This change is in accordance with Texas Election Code as required.

Midlothian police arrest 2 suspects evading arrest

MIDLOTHIAN – The Midlothian Police were called to the First Financial Bank in the 1400 block of East Main Street last week at around 12:11 p.m. after being notified of an individual in the drive-thru attempting to cash a check with fraudulent material.
