Rockwall-Heath overwhelms Red Oak, 62-21

RED OAK – Josh Hoover passed for 212 yards and three touchdowns as Rockwall-Heath overwhelmed Red Oak, 62-21, in a non-district contest at Billy Goodloe Stadium.Jordan Nabors gave Heath the lead 12 seconds into the game when he returned the opening kickoff 82 yards.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL WEEK 3: Ennis 22, Waxahachie 21

WAXAHACHIE — Jackson Gilkey’s overtime touchdown pass to Gracen Harris and 2-point conversion throw to T.T. Cox led Ennis to a thrilling win over rival Waxahachie.Waxahachie (2-1) tied the score late in the fourth quarter on a Roderick Hartsfield Jr. 2-yard quarterback keeper.

WAXAHACHIE — Colby Grmela completed 44 of 47 passes — mostly short gains — for 312 yards and four touchdowns to help lead Life Waxahachie past North Dallas in a nondistrict game at Mustang Stadium.Life Waxahachie (1-2) led 14-0 at halftime and limited North Dallas to 134 total yards.

WICHITA FALLS — Jack Pitts threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns in the first half, helping Wichita Falls Rider (3-0) survive a shootout with Midlothian (1-2) at Memorial Stadium.Midlothian had four drives ended inside the Rider 25. MD—Deago Benson 7 run (Jeremy Cundiff kick).

MIDLOTHIAN — Quarterback Kaden Brown scored five total touchdowns and led Midlothian Heritage past Decatur at Midthloian ISD Multi-Purpose Stadium.Midlothian Heritage finished its nondistrict play a perfect 3-0 while Decatur fell to 1-2 on the season.

Ferris semi-accident claims life of driver

FERRIS – Michael Velez, of Houston, died Sunday morning when his semi-truck fell off the highway embankment on Interstate 45 and East 5th St. and burst into flames.The accident occurred around 5 a.m.A Ferris Police officer saw a huge explosion on the highway and found the semi engulfed in flames.

Wilmer to install new water meters

WILMER – The City of Wilmer will begin the installation of water meters this month.The city council voted “yes” on the new water meters in July with a cost not to exceed $880,780.
