RED OAK – Late last week, a Red Oak resident said he filed assault charges against Red Oak Mayor Mark Stanfill. Paul Kern said he and a colleague were in Ovilla putting out school bond opposition signs when the incident occurred.

Possessing child pornography gets Waxahachie man 20 years

WAXAHACHE – Richard Austin Bisbing, 62, of Waxahachie, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for 37 counts of possession of child pornography, according to a statement from Ellis County and District Attorney Ann Montgomery.The sentences for the offenses will run concurrently.

More inflammatory emails sent to the ECP publisher

In last week’s Ellis County Press, the paper outlined a recent offensive email chain to the publisher from Spat Capital Developer Heran Patel, who did not agree with an ETJ issue in the City of Wilmer, which the paper reported on several months ago.

Ellis County resident/ Duncanville city manager questionably terminated

ELLIS COUNTY – Ellis County resident and former Glenn Heights City Manager Aretha Ferrell-Benavides, who returned from a job on the east coast several years ago to take the role of city manager in the City of Duncanville, was terminated last week from her role in that city.

Scammer posing as police officer hits Midlothian

MIDLOTHIAN – The scams just keep getting more intense.Last week, an alert was issued on the Ellis County Sheriff’s Facebook page in conjunction with an alert posted on the Midlothian Police Department’s Facebook page in regard to fraud in Midlothian.
