CEDAR HILL – Red Oak was looking to bounce back after a close loss to Arlington Seguin against the Class 6A Cedar Hill Longhorns this past Friday night.
The Hawks initial possession looked promising but soon stalled.
It was all Cedar Hill from that point.
Although only trailing 7-3 at the end of the 1st quarter, the Longhorns controlled the game and both sides of the ball and won 48-16.
The Hawks came into the game with multiple starters out due to injuries, including their starting quarterback, Billy Middleton. Replacement QB Junior Tuhran Square (12) played a good game, including a long TD run, but was constantly under pressure from the Longhorn defense.
Despite Cedar Hill dominating most of the game, Red Oak did have some good possessions in the 2nd, half picking up a couple of touchdowns and another field goal.
The Hawks are home Friday, Sept. 19, and host the Killeen Ellison Eagles in their last non-district game. Both teams come into the game at 1-2. Red Oak won the match last year. It is also Senior Night for the Athletic Groups.
