Foreign aid... adjust and repair

Between 1948 and 2011, the United States gave Egypt 71.6 billion dollars in bilateral military and economic aid. Our Senate last August passed a new bill that will give 38 billion dollars in military aid to Israel over the next ten years.

What’s really important in America?

Every day we face life. What is really important? Social Security? We pay into Social Security all of our working lives. When we reach our sixties we anticipate collecting the benefits promised to us. Some will collect income at 62 while others will not collect it until 66.2 or later.

Happy George Washington’s birthday

As this column is being written, Monday, Feb. 18 is President’s Day. Actually, there is no “President’s Day” holiday. According to the official list of federal holidays it is recognized as “George Washington’s Birthday.” Somehow Abraham Lincoln got tossed into the mix since his birthday is Feb. 12.
