OBITUARY: Ronald Zettler

September 23, 1947 – August 18, 2022

Ronald G. Zettler, 74, of Red Oak passed away peacefully at his home Friday, Aug. 18, 2022, following a successful battle with lung cancer.

A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors chapel.

Mr. Zettler was born Sept. 23, 1947, in Hillsboro, the son of Eulan and Ruby (Schronk) Zettler. He graduated from Milford high school in 1966 as vice president of his senior class.

Following a prolific high school athletic career in football and basketball, he attended Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas. His unmatched work ethic allowed him to climb to the title of vice president at a corporate financial loan firm in Dallas, from which he retired after a lengthy career of selfless service.

He had a passion for dancing and fishing. He loved being outdoors along the San Saba River and listening to Elvis. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Malone, Texas.

The family rejoices in the knowledge that he is with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Mr. Zettler was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kenny.

Survivors include his sister Paula Hester and husband Ken of Mesquite, three children: Brian Zettler and wife Hope of New Braunfels; Ashley Zettler of Waxahachie; and Jeremy Zettler of Beverly Hills, California.

His pride and joy were his seven grandchildren: Alex Zettler, Bailey Zettler, Lenzy Zettler, Dakota Bush, Colton Bush, Sophie Zettler and Kayley Bush.

The family thanks Traditions Hospice of Waxahachie for the care they provided their beloved father.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Lung Cancer Foundation of America.
