WAXAHACHIE – The Caddo Mills Foxes came off their big win over the Quinlan Ford Panthers last week and kept the momentum going in the right direction with a District 7-4A opening 44-13 win over Life Waxahachie.
The Mustangs didn’t have much of a chance in the game, already trailing 30-0 at halftime.
Senior quarterback Colton Ponton continued his habit of posting crazy stats for Caddo Mills, throwing for 320 yards and 5 TDs while averaging 11.9 yards per attempt. Those 320 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Ponton. Caddo Mills’ leading receiver Steven Stiggers was Ponton’s top target yet again, picking up 145 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Mustang quarterback Jaxon Kirkpatric was 12 of 17 for 128 yards and 1 interception.
Having lost for the first time this season, Life Waxahachie falls to 3-1. Caddo Mills has now won eight of their last 10 games, dating back to last year. That gives them a 4-1 record this season.
Life Waxahachie will take on the Mabank Panthers at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2 at Mabank.
