ALMA

Alma City Council meetings are generally held the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at Alma City Hall, 104 Interurban Rd.


BARDWELL

Bardwell City Council meetings are generally held on the first Monday of every month at Bardwell City Hall, 5746 Planter Gin Road.


CEDAR HILL

The Cedar Hill Economic Development Corporation Board and staff were recognized by City Council for receiving the Texas Economic Development Council’s 2025 Economic Excellence Recognition. The recognition is awarded to economic development organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to professional development, training and overall organizational effectiveness. The team has received the award for 14 consecutive years.


ENNIS

Utility Billing has been relocated to the Ennis Welcome Center, 201 NW Main St while City Hall undergoes repairs. The temporary location is open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In person payments are available at this site, the online payments and the Night Drop Box at City Hall are also available. Customers may also make payments through the city’s online portal, Xpress Bill Pay, or by calling (833) 622-3316 for assistance.


FERRIS

Ferris ISD hosted a public groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for the new addition at Lee Longino Elementary School.


GARRETT

The old Garrett City Hall building was officially scheduled to be demolished starting Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 9 a.m. Residents are advised to use caution, stay clear of the area, and watch for heavy machinery. Following the demolition, the city is actively soliciting formal sealed proposals from general contractors to construct a brand-new City Hall building. The strict deadline for contractors to submit bids is Thursday, Aug. 20 at 2 p.m.

ITALY

The Italy Gladiator Band is seeking community support for new equipment wheels after making school history with a trip to state last year. The Italy Gladiator Varsity Band has its sights set on San Antonio again and the Italy Gladiator Band Booster Club is currently raising money to purchase new heavy-duty wheels for the band's equipment. The wheels are needed to help students and volunteers safely and efficiently move equipment onto the field while reducing the risk of damage. The original fundraising goal was $1,105, and the community has already contributed $504 – enough to purchase five of the 12 sets needed and that leaves $601 still to raise to complete the project.


MAYPEARL

Maypearl’s City-Wide Cleanup Day is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12 from 8 a.m. to noon. For larger items place them by the road the night before or by 8 a.m. Saturday morning. Otherwise, for the drive-through drop-off swing by the cleanup site behind City Hall and enter from Reagan Street, exit through the alley toward Brookshire Brothers. The event is for Maypearl residents only so bring a current water bill and your ID. No commercial haulers allowed.


MIDLOTHIAN

Beginning Saturday, Aug. 15, Midlothian’s Old Town streets will be undergoing rehab and will be paved. Continuing Monday, Aug. 17 through Friday, Aug. 21, paving will commence according to the schedule:

There will be no road closures during this process, but delays can be expected. Contractors will have flaggers on site to navigate citizens around the work zone. All residents will have access to their homes except for the short period of time the paver crosses their driveway.


MILFORD

Milford is looking for volunteers to help trap, neuter and return cats in the city in order to manage the cat population. If interested contact the Milford Police Chief Southard at (972) 493-4193.


OAK LEAF

CWD will begin servicing Oak Leaf at 6 a.m. beginning June 1st through the end of August.  They ask everyone to have their trash and recyclables (every other week) out by 6 a.m. on Fridays.


OVILLA

Ovilla Heritage Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., 105 S. Cockrell Hill Road.


PALMER

Palmer Fire Department announced its Annual Fish Fry for Oct. 10.


PECAN HILL

Pecan Hill held a Public Hearing and City Council Meeting Tuesday, and the key agenda items were a Budget and Tax Rate Workshop II, voting on adopting the 2023 National Electrical Code regarding copper-clad aluminum conductors and considering staff salary increases.


RED OAK

Red Oak’s Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Pearson Park & Red Oak Municipal Center with free admission and activities for all ages.


VENUS

The City of Venus and Venus Fire Department are addressing immediate structural concerns along West 2nd Street on the Venus Square. Following an Aug. 12 site evaluation, an independent engineer determined the affected commercial structures are salvageable but require temporary safety shoring and restricted access. Interim City Administrator James Hawthorne emphasized that officials are acting quickly to protect public safety while minimizing disruptions to local business owners. No structural collapse has occurred, and the precautionary measures are designed to safely stabilize the area so patron access can resume as quickly as possible.


WAXAHACHIE

Beginning Friday, Aug. 14, Lee Penn Park Pool will transition to its end-of-season schedule and will be open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only for the remainder of the 2026 season. Pool Hours are Friday & Saturday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The final day of the season is Monday, Sept. 7.
