It’s called Yardbird – and it’s in Dallas at 2121 N Pearl.
Yardbird offers the perfect location for an array of diners from a local following to the traveler passing through.
The restaurant is a chic urban kitchen serving southern comfort food in an upscale-casual setting.
The dining room is open with a view of the kitchen. The restaurant also offers patio dining for those cool nights moving into fall with perfect picture views of Klyde Warren Park.
Guests won’t want to overlook the genteel bar at Yardbird with an open area that’s perfect for a quiet chat or a group celebration.
Overall, the Yardbird mood is modern and sophisticated.
So, what about the food?
High marks there too because the menu offers much to consider, including considering a second trip since you’ll not be able to order it all during your first visit.
Yes, the menu touts an upscale comfort food – my highlights include the Classic Buttermilk Biscuits with honey butter and house made jam or the Texas Twinkie with bacon wrapped jalapeño, burnt ends, pimento cheese, spiced honey glaze, and house made ranch to begin your feast.
As for the consideration of meat or chicken, you can’t go wrong with the Great American Wagyu Burger with farmer’s egg, bourbon maple slab pork belly, American cheese, special sauce, crispy pickled onion, and truffle fries or the Chicken & Waffles with chilled spiced watermelon, sharp cheddar waffle, honey hot sauce, and bourbon maple syrup.
To whet your lips, there are fun cocktails to discover. I had the Blackberry Bourbon Lemonade with Jim Beam Bourbon, blackberry, lemon, and Angostura bitters and the Yardbird Old Fashioned with bacon-infused Wild Turkey Bourbon Whiskey, maple syrup, and Angostura & Orange Bitters.
For a non-alcoholic option there’s the Passion Fruit Breeze with passion fruit, basil, lemon, and Ginger Ale.
And of course, a proper sugar high will scream the final comfort of the evening as you peruse the dessert menu.
My recommended favorites include the Key Lime Pie, a South Beach original with seasonal fruit or the Chocolate Skillet Brownie with vanilla bean ice cream, and bourbon caramel sauce.
Southern chic, classy and with a feel-good energy that delivers high quality ingredients and careful preparation, Yardbird is a “do not miss” on my list of darlings.
