NOTICE OF SALE OF SURPLUS FIRE TRUCK


Notice is hereby given that the City of Ovilla, Texas, pursuant to Chapter 263 of the Texas Local Government Code, the City of Ovilla Policy and Procedure Guide to Purchasing, Resolution No. R030926-B, and other applicable law, will receive sealed bids for the purchase of surplus municipal property consisting of one fire truck owned by the City of Ovilla.

The Ovilla City Council, by approval of Resolution No. R030926-B, declared the apparatus to be surplus property and authorized the sale of the apparatus through a sealed bidding process to the highest responsible bidder.

The fire truck is being sold AS IS, WHERE IS, with no warranties expressed or implied. Available photographs, vehicle information, maintenance records, operational information, and known condition issues, if available, may be reviewed by contacting City Hall.

SEALED BID DEADLINE:

Sealed bids must be received by the City Secretary no later than 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

BID SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

All bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked:

“SEALED BID – SURPLUS FIRE TRUCK”

Each bid submission shall include the bidder’s name, mailing address, telephone number, email address, bid amount, signed acknowledgment accepting the vehicle in AS IS, WHERE IS condition, signature, and date.

BID OPENING:

Sealed bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, in the Ovilla City Hall Council Chambers. A bid tabulation sheet identifying bidders and bid amounts will be prepared and maintained as part of the public record.

INSPECTION OF VEHICLE:

Interested parties may inspect the fire truck by appointment only between 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. beginning Monday, June 15, 2026 – Thursday, June 18, 2026; Monday, June 22, 2026 – Friday, June 26, 2026; Monday, June 29, 2026 – Thursday, July 3, 2026.

MINIMUM BID / RESERVATION OF RIGHTS:

The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids, waive irregularities, and accept the highest responsible bid that serves the best interest of the City. 

The City reserves the right to reject bids determined to be below fair market value.

In the event identical bids are received, the City reserves the right to determine the successful bidder by any method authorized by law.

PAYMENT AND REMOVAL:

Payment in full shall be required within ten (10) business days following award of the bid and must be made by certified funds, cashier’s check, or wire transfer payable to the City of Ovilla. The successful bidder shall be responsible for removal and transportation of the vehicle no later than Friday, July 31, 2026, by 3:00 p.m.

This notice is being published once a week for two consecutive weeks in the City’s official newspaper, The Ellis County Press. Notice of this bid opportunity is also posted on the City of Ovilla website at www.cityofovilla.org, and distributed electronically through the City’s CivicPlus notification system for registered bidders and interested parties at www.cityofovilla.org/bids.aspx.
