Shelba Turner DiStasi was born in Dallas, Texas on Nov. 16, 1959.
Shelba died surrounded by family on Friday, May 8, 2026.
Shelba taught us to slow down and appreciate life. She taught us patience, how to celebrate small moments, and most of all, that every person deserves unconditional love. She also showed us how to trust God, even when life feels unfair.
Shelba would want to remind all of you: You matter. God created you exactly as you are for a reason. Love yourself as fiercely as Shelba loved others and never forget the difference you can make in this world.
Shelba was strong, beautiful, funny, complicated, inspiring, and deeply loved.
Shelba was proceeded in death by her loving father, Rudy Turner, her loving mother, Margot Turner, and her precious dog, Tiny.
Shelba is survived by her sister, Sharon Harris and husband Kelly Harris, her niece, Hannah Harris and son Matthew Gonzalez, her niece, Ruth Symank and husband Addison Symank, and their children Grace Symank and Heinz Symank.
Shelba is survived by her loving boyfriend of 20 years, Jim Wise. Jim taught us all the meaning of unconditional love by the way he loved and treated Shelba. We will be forever grateful to him.
Shelba is survived by her many friends at Patrick Baptist Church, where she always felt love and acceptance.
A special thank you to the many caregivers that were with Shelba over the last few years and especially to Shuntae Steele and Nanci Nash that stayed with us until the end and are now a part of our family.
There will be a memorial service for Shelba on Thursday, May 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Green’s Funeral Home located at 207 S Wood Street in Ferris. There will be a reception immediately after the service at Patrick Baptist Church, located at 2006 Parkinson Road in Ferris.
Shelba’s favorite color was pink. It is not mandatory; however, we would like to encourage anyone that wants to wear pink at the service in Shelba’s honor to do so.
Rest in freedom, Shelba, you made a difference in so many lives and will be missed greatly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Patrick Baptist Church in memory of Shelba Distasi.
