MIDLOTHIAN – Midlothian Police are asking the public for their assistance in identifying a subject that recently attempted to pass multiple counterfeit $100 bills at Brookshires located at 1400 E Main Street.

The incidents took place on March 13 and March 26.

Police said in one incident, the suspect successfully used counterfeit currency to purchase gas and merchandise.

In the second incident, the suspect tried to use a counterfeit bill but fled when confronted by store employees.

The counterfeit bills are believed to be what’s known as “washed” currency, which means lower denomination bills altered to appear as $100 bills.

The suspect typically makes small purchases of $20 or less and seeks legitimate currency as change.
According to police, the suspect appears to be a white male wearing a dark plaid flannel-style jacket over a hoodie, with dark pants.

He also wears a dark beanie and sunglasses. He appears to have facial hair, possibly a beard.

He is driving a green 1997 to 2003 Ford F150 with bed rails.
