MAYPEARL – Maypearl ISD recently hired a new superintendent.

Pending for any changes, Dr. Josh Martin will be joining the district within the next month.
Martin was named the lone finalist for the district superintendent job at a board meeting earlier this week.
“In every round of interviews, Dr. Martin has exemplified the characteristics we, as a community, are passionate about for our district,” said Jarod Wright, Maypearl ISD Board President.

“We are on a path to make Maypearl ISD the best of the best, and Dr. Martin will lead the charge.”
Martin is currently the superintendent in Bangs ISD, and has been an educator since 2002.

He has served as not only a campus and district administrator, but also as a teacher and coach.

“Throughout our search, we engaged with numerous individuals, including school leaders who know and hold Dr. Martin in high regard,” Doug Williams, Partner, Impact Education Specialists said.

“The consensus is that he possesses strong character and a work ethic that will greatly benefit the district. We are enthusiastic about the future of Maypearl ISD.”

Martin holds a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Texas, and a doctorate from Nova Southeastern University.

He is also a published author.

“My family and I cannot express how excited we are to join Maypearl ISD and be a part of this amazing community,” Martin said of his new job.

“I am eagerly anticipating the chance to work with the teachers and staff to provide the best learning environment for our students and provide amazing opportunities for our students to demonstrate their skills and talents in a wide variety of competitions and performances.

“We are going to work tirelessly to make sure every day is a great day to be a panther.”

Texas law requires school districts to observe a mandatory 21-day waiting period after naming a lone finalist for a superintendent position before officially finalizing the hire.

The board of trustees expects Martin will be in his new role at Maypearl ISD by April.
