WAXAHACHIE - Another Waxahachie Fire and Rescue crew has been deployed to West Texas to assist with the ongoing wildfire response and to support the communities impacted by the 8 Ball Fire in Armstrong and Donley Counties.
Waxahachie Fire and Rescue team members deployed include Fire Fighter Tedder, Lieutenant Corder, and Captain Sodek.

These fire fighters along with more than 100 fire fighters from the region who have been deployed are working around the clock to protect lives, property, and livelihoods.

Late last week Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency had approved a request from the State of Texas for a Fire Management Assistance Grant for the 8 Ball Fire, which has threatened homes and infrastructure in the Panhandle area and has prompted local evacuations.

“Texas continues to work around the clock to provide all necessary resources to those affected by the 8 Ball Fire,” Abbott said.

The 8 Ball Fire has burned an estimated 13,000 acres and remains 55 percent contained.

It has forced the evacuation of approximately 400 homes and has threatened more than 1,100 homes.

While some residents have been able to return home, state and local resources remain actively engaged in suppression, containment, and public safety efforts.
