WILMER – The Wilmer City Council unanimously voted to hire Steve Norwood as the city’s new City Administrator.
Norwood has been in the position as interim city administrator since Oct. 15.
He has successfully managed cities for more than 35 years primarily in Texas, and also spent eight years as City Manager in Prescott, Ariz.
He grew up in a city management household where his father was a city manager in cities like Harlingen, Broken Arrow, OK. and retiring as Village Manager of Ruidoso, NM.
Norwood personally began his career in Euless, and held the titles of Director of Planning and Development and Director of Economic Development.
He semi-retired in 2022, but spent the last three years providing interim city management services anywhere from three months to 16 months in Breckenridge, TX, Macon, MO, and Stamford, TX before arriving in Wilmer.
“With Wilmer being in such a strong position due to its location and the businesses interested in moving to Wilmer, Steve is a fantastic choice as we move into the future,” said Wilmer Mayor Sheila Petta.
Steve and his wife live in Arlington. They have two grown children and one grandchild.
