MIDLOTHIAN – In late October 2025, the Midlothian City Council approved an ordinance 6-0 restricting through heavy trucks on Midlothian Parkway between Main Street and a location north of Mockingbird Lane.

This ordinance is set to go into effect on Feb. 1, 2026. The date was set to allow time to notify driver and post signage.

Council members and staff agreed this was a good move for the city to preserve pavement life on older roadways, some more than 20-years-old, and to discourage truck traffic bypassing state routes.

Roads that were recently added limiting through traffic for trucks per the ordinance include:

• Midlothian Parkway between Main Street and just north of Mockingbird Lane

• Mockingbird Lane from Midlothian Parkway to North Walnut Grove Road

• Onward Road from FM 1387 to Tar Road

• North Walnut Grove Road from 1387 to Mockingbird Lane

• Park Place Boulevard from FM 1387 to Mockingbird Lane

The amended code does allow existing exceptions for vehicles to travel the shortest practicable route for pickups and deliveries to properties located on the restricted segment.
