ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County Sheriff’s Department recently worked in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Group, and last week released information regarding a two-and-a-half year narcotics investigation from an overdose in Ellis County.
During the investigation, both investigators and federal agents executed a number of search warrants throughout Ellis County and the surrounding area.
The investigation has to date resulted in 12 individuals arrested on narcotic-related offenses. There was also the recovery of approximately 90 kilograms of cocaine, as well as weapons and the seizure of a large amount of U.S. currency related to drug trafficking, according to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department.
“This is an example of what can be accomplished when local and federal agencies work side by side,” stated an Ellis County Sheriff’s Department media release. “Our special investigative unit along with our federal partners have removed a significant number of dangerous drugs from the community.”
Other partners involved in the investigation included Ennis, Midlothian, Lancaster, Cedar Hill and the Kaufman and Navarro County Sheriff’s offices.
The investigation remains ongoing.
