ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office said last week they were asking for the public’s help in a two-year-old death investigation of Jackie Wayne Shelby, aged 54 at the time of his death.
Shelby’s death took place in Italy, Texas, in February 2023.
The incident happened at approximately 7:25 p.m. in the 200 block of Rosemond Lane.
Shelby lived at the Rosemond address with his mother.
Both Italy Police Department and Ellis County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the call that evening, responding to the shots fired.
The sheriff’s office never released information on a motive for the shooting.
Ellis County Sheriff’s Department investigators are following all available leads, and urge anyone with knowledge of this incident to come forward.
“The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to seeking justice for Mr. Shelby and his family,” an Ellis County press release stated.
