ALMA

The Alma City Council recently considered an ordinance to amend the driveway approach from the public right-of-way to 25-feet to be asphalt or concrete and from that point to the dwelling parking space to be all-weather material for emergency vehicles on all lots five acres or more.


BARDWELL

Did you know Bardwell Lake was built in 1965 for flood control by the US Army Corps of Engineers? At Bardwell Lake, recreation for visitors includes boating, camping, fishing, and picnicking.


ENNIS

The address 113 South Dallas Street in Ennis was purchased by a local developer who recently requested a demolition permit due to the structural condition of the building. According to the Ennis Facebook page over the past two weeks, City staff gathered information to determine potential impacts the demolition will have on the adjoining property. During this time it was discovered the structural integrity of 113 South Dallas has continued to deteriorate, resulting in the issuance of a demolition permit and the request to proceed as quickly as possible.


FERRIS

Chick-fil-A began serving the community in Ferris with a special pop-up service every Tuesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 100 Town Plaza.


GARRETT

At the latest city council meeting, the City of Garrett discussed a potential development of 133 acres along FM 879, TXNV Land, LLC/Nathan Frumkin properties.


GRAND PRAIRIE

The Grand Prairie Mayor will be taking part in his Cyclin’ with the Mayor – Bowles Park Ride and Community Fair Thursday, Sept. 1 at 5:30 p.m. It’s a five-mile bike ride for riders of all ages and skill levels.


GLENN HEIGHTS

The City of Glenn Heights will host a General Election for Mayor and Council Member Places 2, 4, and 6, Charter Amendment Propositions, and Bond Propositions during the Nov. 4, 2025 General Election.


ITALY

Italy’s Economic Development Corporation meets the fourth Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 161 West Main Street.


MAYPEARL

Stay tuned to find out if Maypearl will be transitioning from May to November City elections in the future. Maypearl’s Mayor Chance Lynch did not respond to inquires about this most important transition for the city.


MIDLOTHIAN

The Midlothian Club America/Turning Point USA will host a “Honoring Charlie” event on Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. at Heritage Park in front of City Hall.


MILFORD

Milford City Council Meetings are held the second Monday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Milford Community Center, 109 S. Main St.


OAK LEAF

Did you know Oak Leaf is served by the Ellis County Sheriff for law enforcement and both the Red Oak and Ovilla Fire Departments for fire protection?

 

OVILLA

This year Ovilla’s Heritage Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27. The city is celebrating 40 years and the theme for the day is “Ovilla, Small Town Texas.”


PALMER

Palmer City Council will be discussing an ordinance at its council meeting Thursday, September 18 for a new section in its code of ordinances requiring pet owners to clean up after their pets in city parks and on private property.

 

PECAN HILL

Pecan Hill’s next regular city council meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. at Pecan Hill Municipal Building, 1094 S. Lowrance, Pecan Hill. At that meeting, staff pay increases will be discussed for approval.

 

RED OAK

Red Oak ISD encourages and celebrates consistent attendance in school. To that end, the ISD has initiated a program to reward students who achieve perfect attendance beginning Sept. 2, 2025, through May 20, 2026. Students with perfect attendance will receive the following awards by school level: $500 – Red Oak High School students, $250 – Red Oak and Joy Shaw Middle School students, and $100 – Red Oak ISD elementary students.


WAXAHACHIE

Waxahachie High School recently hosted an appreciation breakfast for the city’s first responders. The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, the Culinary Department, WHS Choir, Student Council and Cheerleaders helped make the event possible.
