Glenn Heights will be hosting their back to school bash Friday, August 9 from 8 a.m. to noon.

 

ITALY

Check out the city’s mural at Italy City Hall dedicated during EMS week in May. The mural artist was chosen through a nationwide contest for elementary children to draw all the different first responders aiding in the public’s emergencies. Stafford Elementary’s very own sixth grader, Landrie Reeves, won the contest and a Ft. Worth artist, Christopher Sandoval painted the mural.

 

MAYPEARL

The city website indicates it has adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year’s tax rate.

 

MIDLOTHIAN

A visit to Mockingbird Nature Park on Onward Road is now friendly for the visually impaired thanks to Navilens markers that have been placed throughout the park by members of the Indian Trail Chapter, Texas Master Naturalists. Navilens offers verbal and written descriptions of 40 plants at the park through a free downloadable app, and was funded by a grant from Midlothian Community Development Corporation.

 

MILFORD

The City of Milford holds its city council meetings the second Monday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Milford Community Center, 109 S. Main St.

 

OAK LEAF

The city’s website warns they have received calls that residents are receiving text messages from the city conducting a survey. This is a scam and they request no one click on any links or provide any personal information.  

 

OVILLA 

Ovilla’s roadwork project on South Westmoreland near the new Red Oak Middle School which began on March 3, is set to be complete in July.

 

PALMER 

Palmer city council meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

 

PECAN HILL 

Visit www.pecanhill.com/city-council to get updates on the town’s next city council meeting. The June meeting was canceled.

 

RED OAK

Don’t miss the Summer Cinema every Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Red Oak Library.

 

WAXAHACHIE 

Beginning Monday, July 7, construction will start on M&M Playground at Getzendaner Park. The work being done includes a complete rebuild to meet current safety standards and provide an improved play experience, upgraded materials, new play features, modernized fall surface for enhanced safety, and reconstruction of the iconic maze feature.
