The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host “Managing Diabetes: Choose Your Way!” on Aug. 2.
The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Waxahachie Senior Center, 122 Park Hills Drive. Preregistration is required and can be completed by calling (972) 825-5175 or emailing Danae Hicks, AgriLife Extension family and community health agent for Ellis County, at danae.hicks@ag.tamu.edu.
Lunch will be provided for those who preregister.
The course is geared toward individuals who are impacted by Type 2 diabetes, either personally or in support of family and friends with Type 2 diabetes.
Attendees will learn how to manage Type 2 diabetes, the impact of food on glucose levels, the role of carbohydrates and the relationship between glucose control and physical activity.
The course will be led by Hicks and Julie Mendenhall, certified diabetes care and education specialist.
