WAXAHACHIE – The Waxahachie Family YMCA held a groundbreaking ceremony earlier this month despite the rainy weather, celebrating its upcoming new facility.
While a large, white tent shielded the 75-plus in attendance for the groundbreaking, even the rain could not dampen the spirits of those there to celebrate the announcement of the introduction of Phase I of the $10.7 million capital campaign benefiting the Waxahachie YMCA family.
When complete, the development with be home to a nine-acre community park named in honor of the late Mrs. Cindy Lu Hess when complete.
Hess was a much-loved Waxahachie philanthropist who served as a YMCA board member for 10 years.
