MIDLOTHIAN – The Midlothian Police are conducting an accident investigation involving a fatality accident occurring on northbound US Highway 287 Sunday morning at 11:01 a.m. that also involved Mansfield Police.
The highway was closed at Kimble Road to US 67 for a good part of Sunday afternoon.
Mansfield Police were involved in a pursuit on northbound US Highway 287 that ended in the crash.
A media release from Mansfield PD reported they were alerted to a vehicle entering that city on FM 917 that was displaying a stolen license plate.
Officers located the suspect vehicle, description not included by Mansfield Police, in the 1800 block of Towne Crossing Blvd.
Passengers in the suspect vehicle included a driver and front-seat passenger. Both fled the area in the vehicle and entered U.S. 287 southbound from the 900 block of N. Walnut Creek Drive.
The vehicle continued to evade officers and entered the city of Midlothian.
“In approximately the 4000 block of West U.S. 287, the vehicle was in the northbound lanes of traffic while traveling southbound,” a media released revealed.
“The vehicle collided with another vehicle.”
The driver of the suspect vehicle was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene. The front-seat passenger was transported by CareFlite to Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas in critical condition. The occupants of the second vehicle were transported to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver and front-seat passenger of the suspect vehicle have not been identified.
The suspect vehicle was confirmed stolen from the city of Grand Prairie.
