WAXAHACHIE – Two members of the Waxahachie Toastmasters club, Tiger Mims and Candy Robinson, competed in the Southern Division International Speech and Tall Tales contest on Saturday, March 29 at the Beckley-Saner Recreation Center in south Dallas.
Tiger Mims took Second Place in the Tall Tales contest with his presentation “The Waterfall of Death.”
Tall Tales speeches are exaggerated stories in the spirit of Paul Bunyon and Pecos Bill.
Mims tells of a harrowing adventure of escaping man-eating turtles after surviving a kayak fall over a giant dam.
Candy Robinson won First Place in the International Speech contest, which is a speech on any subject of choice, usually meant to be inspirational in nature. Her speech, “If I had to Do It Over Again,” challenged the audience to step out and make changes in their lives today than can positively affect their future tomorrow.
