WILMER – At approximately 12 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, Wilmer firefighters were dispatched to a vehicle fire in the 2900 block of Post Oak Rd in Dallas County.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the cab of an eighteen-wheeler fully involved.
Wilmer Fire Chief David Gifford said, “The heat from the tractor fire quickly ignited a large stack of polypropylene pallets being stored at the site. The plastic pallets along with a strong wind engulfed the large storage of pallets sending huge amounts of thick black smoke into the air.”
The fire was brought under control at approximately 3:30 p.m. with no injuries being reported.
Wilmer Fire Department said five agencies assisted in battling the blaze Wednesday including Dallas County Fire, Hutchins Fire, Ferris DPS, Forney Fire, and Dallas Fire.
