Prominent artist Rusty Jones to give oil painting demonstration

WAXAHACHIE – Rusty Jones, prominent oil painting artist, will be doing a demonstration in oil painting for The Ellis County Art Association at the monthly meeting, Jan. 6 at First Baptist Church of Waxahachie (450 US287 BYP). 

Jones is a plein air painting enthusiast with over 20 years workshop teaching experience. 

“I don’t find the landscape, it finds me,” Jones said. 

“If I go out with a preconceived idea of what I want to paint, I can drive around for hours and never find it. 

“But if I go out with a clear head, full of creative energy and no preconceptions usually a scene will present itself within a few minutes.

“If I am not painting, I am thinking about painting. If I am painting, I’m thinking about nothing else.”

The meeting at FBC is open to everyone and begins at 6 p.m. with refreshments and socializing. 

Announcements and business will start at 6:30, and the Demo begins at 6:45 p.m.
