ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County Sheriff’s Department reported on Saturday, just one day after notifying the public of an infectious illness incident at the SPCA of Texas’ Ellis County Animal Care Center, that it was all clear to re-open.
According to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department FB on Friday the 13th, a message came in around 2:45 p.m. from the Ellis County Animal Care Center that the shelter had closed intake due to the situation.
While the plan was to re-evaluate the situation in a week, that timeframe was accelerated and normal operations were greenlighted to reopen on Sunday, Dec. 15.
“All animals at the shelter that were suspected to be infected were tested,” the Sheriff’s Department FB confirmed. “Fortunately, all tests came back negative.”
