GLENN HEIGHTS – The City of Glenn Heights will announce the grand opening of its All-Abilities Park located at the Glenn Heights City Center, 1938 S. Hampton Rd., on Friday, Dec, 6, at 6 p.m.

This fully inclusive park will offer a fun, engaging, and accessible environment for individuals of all ages and abilities to come together and enjoy a variety of recreational activities. 

The All-Abilities Park is designed to meet the needs of everyone in the community, including residents and visitors with physical and cognitive limitations.

“This park is more than just a playground,”said Glenn Heights Mayor Sonja A. Brown. 

“It embodies our commitment to inclusivity and community and ensures every resident, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities, has a space to connect, play, and thrive. It’s a step toward building a stronger, more united city where everyone feels valued and welcomed.”

The All-Abilities Park will feature a range of accessible amenities designed to accommodate the diverse needs of Glenn Height’s residents. Some of the key features include:

a fun and kid-friendly zip line

an illuminated linear trail system

shade structures with picnic tables

outdoor exercise stations

education stations covering various subjects

Auditory equipment to develop motor skills

playground devices specifically designed to enhance cognitive abilities in youth

inclusive playground equipment that removes physical barriers where all children can play together

metal pavilion with nine picnic tables

 

Working hard to ensure everything is ready for the upcoming grand opening, the All-Abilities Park is in its final stages of construction.  Work is underway to complete several essential features, including final grading, landscaping, and the installation of special play equipment.

“The City of Glenn Heights is deeply grateful for the collaboration with our development partner, Grossman Design Build. We look forward to seeing the impact the park will have on our community for years to come.” Brown concluded. 

Immediately following the All-Abilities Park grand opening, everyone is encouraged to continue the celebration at the city’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Celebration.

This festive event will also take place at Glenn Height’s City Center and will be packed with fun for everyone in the family.

Featuring a Santa Meet & Greet, with special photo opportunities with Santa Claus; free toys for children to take home; a Letters to Santa station where kids can write their holiday wishes; free hot chocolate & coffee; and a variety of Food and Craft Vendors offering seasonal treats and unique gifts; a fun-filled Kids Zone with games and activities; and a festive Train Ride through the holiday displays, the holiday magic will be on full display.
