FERRIS – District 109 Texas State Representative Carl Sherman, whose district includes neighboring cities Lancaster, DeSoto and parts of Glenn Heights and Ovilla, underwent open heart surgery last week on Friday for a rare heart condition called hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.
He was diagnosed with the condition last year.
Before taking his seat as a Texas State Representative for District 109 in 2019, Sherman was not only the mayor of DeSoto, among other offices held, but also served as the city manager in the cities of Ferris and Hutchins.
On Friday, Sherman’s Instagram account reported his surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota went well.
“All who know and love him know he works incessantly to help others,” the post read. “That said, for this short season he must rest.”
