WILMER – Grammy Award Nominee, Billboard Magazine Top Country Female Vocalist, and Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year, Janie Fricke was a special guest over weekend at Wilmer’s Pioneer Days on Saturday on the event’s main stage.

Fricke, a Wilmer resident who has lived in the area for years, went on stage Saturday at Wilmer’s Pioneer Days with the headliner band Dr. Honky Tonk.

This was Fricke’s first time to perform at Pioneer Days alongside Dr. Honky Tonk. 

Fricke’s husband, former Wilmer Mayor Jeff Steele, played drums in Dr. Honky Tonk, and is a long-time Wilmer City Council member.

Fricke, a country music singer, songwriter, producer, and designer, has over the years charted 17 top 10 singles and eight number one hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. 

Some of her most loved hits include “Don’t Worry ‘Bout Me Baby,” “He’s a Heartache” and “Tell Me a Lie.”

Wilmer’s 40th annual Pioneer Days was held from Oct. 25 to 27 at 201 I-45 in Wilmer.
