ELLIS COUNTY – The pandemic a few years ago was a time when more than the usual number of people learned more than they wanted to about local doctors, clinics and hospitals.

In Ellis County, there were several times I could not get the largest hospital in Waxahachie to answer questions for my articles pertaining to the pandemic.

As well, more and more people seem to be unhappy with their healthcare services.

Enter the idea to shop around if you can and find a medical provider that fits your style.

Lancaster’s Crescent Hospital is a drive for many Ellis County residents, however there is a local clinic part of that hospital group that has changed hands and might have gone unnoticed.

Waxahachie’s Specialty Care Clinics (formerly Regional Orthopedics and Sports Medicine) accepts walk-ins and was taken over by Raji Kumar, CEO/owner of not only Lancaster Crescent Hospital and Hill Regional Hospital in December 2022 after the passing of Waxahachie’s orthopedic specialist Dr. Robert Price Roye, MD.

Roye knew Kumar because he was credentialed her to take over the practice in 2023 in order for Waxahachie patients to have the same level of healthcare Dr. Roye offered.

Specific orthopedic healthcare at the clinic for all ages is still available in addition to primary healthcare services.

“When taking over the important responsibilities that Regional Orthopedics provided to the community, it was necessary for us to carry on the amazing legacy left by Dr. Roye and his practice, while contributing to the ever-expanding healthcare needs of the community by adding Primary Care services,” said Kumar.

Since the clinic is part of Lancaster’s Crescent Regional Hospital, Ellis County patients also have a direct connection to North America’s first holographic technology offered to patients – the Holoconnects’ Holobox technology.

This technology allows doctors to teleport life-size 3D holograms to create an immersive and interactive experience that transforms the doctor-patient communication.

“Kumar had the vision that this tech could connect rural patients and rural hospitals to healthcare providers in nearby bigger cities,” said Jonathan R. Williams Marketing Manager Crescent Regional Hospital & Hill Regional Hospital.

“Patients have been blown away by how lifelike the image of the doctor in the Holobox is and how thorough their visit was.”
