Red Oak – In the Spring of 2020, the Life School Board of Directors approved emergency paid sick leave in response to Congress passing the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. This law provided up to two weeks (10 workdays) paid leave to employees impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, as of Dec, 31, Congress did not extend the paid leave offerings under the FFCRA.
The Life School Board of Directors voted to approve the extension of the EPSL for all employees through July 31. This extension will allow all staff to continue to access EPSL benefits for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.
“The health and safety of our staff and students is the top priority for Life School. While we are committed to offering high-quality education during the pandemic, it is essential that our staff be able to stay home while they are sick or exposed,” said Life School Chief Talent Officer, Stephanie Colwell.
